We tell you how to proceed in case of expired identification documents, for the issuance of new idCAT Certificate and mobile idCAT (DNI or TIE) :
- ID card: valid for the period indicated on the card and cannot be extended. Therefore, only valid IDs are accepted.
- Passport: Only valid passports are accepted as the extension, or not, of this document depends on the national provisions of each state.
- TIE: its validity is extended until the resolution of the renewal request, as long as it has been requested up to 90 days after its expiry and is pending the issuance of the corresponding resolution (Regulation for the development of the Law Organic on rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain).
- European Union Citizen Registration Certificate : they have no expiry date
